Which version of Homefront should you get? Face-off.

Once again the team over at digital foundry have published a “face-off” article at Eurogamer.

As expected if you have a pc with the right specs you’ll get the most from this game.

On consoles it’s not so cut and dry though, with each having its own benefits. One thing that surprised me was that the texture streaming/pop-in issue – not seen since Mass Effect 1- is an issue on console versions of Homefront.
Another unexpected issue is that console versions do not run at at full 720p, an unusual one considering this is UnrealEngine3 (albeit modified) they are working with here.

Regarding the difference between the console versions Eurogamer concludes that;

“there doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of difference between the two console SKUs aside from a handful of technical curiosities, including what seems to be better texture filtering on the Xbox 360 game. The difference here isn’t so hugely apparent owing to the lower native resolution inherent to both platforms”.

Regarding the PC version, as was stated obviously its the best by far, quote..

There’s little doubt that it’s the PC version of Homefront that offers the best all-round technical and gameplay experience (high frame-rates and the mouse/keyboard combo simply can’t be beaten) but the transformation is nowhere near as pronounced as it was with the PC version of the Medal of Honor single-player mode.
