Sony has been laying down the law recently as they set their legal dogs on anyone who even posts the PS3 hack that enables homebrew and backup games.
As you may know George Hotz – (geohot) known for his Apple iPhone jailbreaks – became famous last year for fulfilling his promise to hack the Playstation 3. Up till that point the PS3 was the only remaining console that was regarded as fully secure.
Sony have even gone as far as to demand Google hand over the IPs of anyone who commented on or even viewed the Youtube vids explaining the hack.
According to Ars Technica, Sony declined to comment and Hotz’s attorney said: “The discovery they call for in my opinion is overbroad”
I feel Sony’s pain, but I don’t think they will have much success with this approach.
Seems a bit late.
What happens online, stays online – forever.
Haven’t they heard of the Streisand Effect?
