The world of DC Universe MMO RPG

All you Comic book MMO fans get ready, because if you were disappointed with Champions online (I had to struggle to even remember its name) and you are getting tired of the excellent City of Heroes, the next big comic book themed MMO is on the way. DC universe online will be released in a couple of months on November the 2nd 2010.

DC Universe will be subscription based, requiring a monthly payment in order to play.

A key game-play mechanic is that there are no classes (which is a big mistake IMO), this is part of the reason why Champions was a failure)

Skills

Skills are selected using a talent-based system, which allows players to spend points however they choose. Roles, or stances, are classified as offensive, defensive or supportive.

Offensive characters are the damage dealers, defensive is more like a tank, and supportive characters heal and buff.

Rather than players choosing a permanent class for each character, which is the norm in role-playing games both online and off, DC Universe Online allows characters to change their role on the fly, as needed.

For example, if the player wants to deal more damage, he can change his character’s role from defensive to offensive. Switching roles changes the abilities that characters can use.

However, a character with points in offensive talents will still be better at dealing damage than a defensive character in an offensive stance

So why should you be excited?

Its got Batman in it
Ironman, superman etc etc
Its coming out for the PS3 and PC, and no Playstation Plus subscription required (so far)
You can join the Green Lantern Corp
Did I mention it has batman is in it?
Its something to dull the pain until Starwars old republic comes out
Its the first modern MMO on the PS3

Whats not so good?

Its developed by SOE, they can be hit and miss
No Classes, this could be a big mistake, everyone is everything , mish mash, mess, no grouping because everyone can solo rubbish, whats the point in playing a MMO in the first place.
