PS3 Move vs XBox Kinect

PlayStation Move is a motion-sensing game controller platform for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game console by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). Based on a handheld motion controller wand, PlayStation Move uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the wand’s position, and inertial sensors in the wand to detect its motion.

The Kinect on the other hand is a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform, and may later be supported by PCs via Windows 8.^[6] Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands,^[7] orpresented objects and images.

Kinect from the Eurogamer review, Kinect isn’t perfect by any means. It’s expensive, finicky, unreliable and difficult to accommodate. But it’s also an extraordinary piece of futuristic technology, and when is the last time the gaming world was treated to one of those?

General reviews for the PS3 Move;

Game Informer gave it an 8 out of 10 saying “The PlayStation Eye and motion controller are a killer combination for accurate and highly responsive motion-based gameplay, and we applaud Sony for getting the hardware right the first time.”^[65] Kotaku praised its accuracy, design, use of augmented reality

So whats the difference?

Well basically, the kinect you flap your arms (without a controller) and other parts of your body around to move the game on screen, it has some lag (supposedly), and the PS3 Move you flap your arms to control the movement on the screen (but holding some wands with ping pong balls on the end), less lag and more precise (supposedly)

Regardless of how you feel about the hardware, it all comes down to the games lineup, the Kinect is more aimed at casual play with absolutely no hardcore games whatsoever at launch.

The PS3 Move games lineup is aimed at casual gamers also (e.g. Sports champions and Get fit with Mel B urgh) but with a healthy amount of planned hard core games, like for example Resident Evil 5, Heavy Rain, Socum 4, MAG, Time Crisis.

Games line-up winner

If youre a hardcore gamer then the PS3 move is clearly the winner, but there is something to be said for XBox Kinect games line-up and you never know what’s on the horizon.

Verdict

PS3 Move is cheaper at sub 100 Dollars per wand, the Kinect is 149 DOllars, almost as expensive as a new system, but have similar casual games, however it seams the move has better hard core game out of the box, Heavy Rain make it a must buy in my opinion.
