With EQ2 going free to play, it got me thinking about my days / years playing EQ1, launched in 1999, it redefined and invented the MMO RPG market, with amazing 3d graphics (for its time), and ultra hardcore gameplay.

Some things you might remember from the original EQ1 days pre Kunark.

1. Can I have a SOW please?
2. Trading for hours in EC tunnel (no AH)
3. Druid and wizzies could make a fortune porting
4. Epics were Epic
5. +3 Wiz or Int was a big deal
6. Jade mace was awesome, now its just pet fodder
7. You would pay for Clarity
8. No KEI, No PoP
9. 12 hour camps
10. Corpse runs
11. Hell levels
12. Meding with an open book that occupied the whole screen
13. racial hits and multi class hits
14. JBOOTS !
15. Nek Forest SCARY
